M.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering

1        Introduction:

The  department of  communication engineering  at  the  Faculty  of  engineering  proposes  the  Master  of  Science  program  in  communication engineering  to  equip  students  with  an  in-depth knowledge  of  some  of  today's  key  developments  in  various  Mechatronics fields.  The proposed program provides a broad postgraduate education that is meant to suit the needs of communication graduates who wish to advance their knowledge.  Furthermore, those who seek to add Mechatronics skills to their qualifications and work experiences are expected to benefit greatly from the proposed program.

The importance of this program comes from the fact that it fulfills a real need for Mechatronics graduates of the  Faculty  of  Faculty  of  engineering  and  other  similar  faculties  since  it  increases  career opportunities  for  graduates  and  strengthens  their  knowledge  in  a  variety  of  Mechatronics disciplines.

Furthermore,  the  proposed  program  will  add  value  to  the  Mechatronics discipline  at  the  Faculty of  engineering  at academic, research levels, and allow the University of Mashreg to meet a need of its society by producing skillful Mechatronics specialists.

2        Program Objectives

This proposed program aims to:

  1. Develop students’ understanding in a variety of information technology fields.

  2. Enhance students’ transferable skills in research, problem solving, critical thinking, and independent learning.

  3. Prepare students for practical industry needs.

3        Program Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the proposed program, a student will have shown that he or she has attained:

    1. The ability to apply knowledge of communication appropriate  to  the discipline

    2. The ability to analyze a problem, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution

    3. The ability to function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal

    4. The  understanding  of  professional,  ethical,  legal,  security  and  social  issues  and responsibilities

    5. The ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences

    6. The  ability  to  analyze  the  local  and  global  impact  of  computing  on  individuals, organizations, and society

    7. Recognition  of  the  need  for  and  an  ability  to  engage  in  continuing  professional development

    8. The ability to use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice

    9. The  ability  to  use  and  apply  current  technical  concepts  and  practices  in  the  core information technologies.

    10. The ability to assist in the creation of an effective project plan.
